Commentary
This work has been composed taking as a source of inspiration traditional dance rhythms used in Basque folklore: rhythm of the minuet, andante, ezpata dantza, fandango, arin-arin, zortziko and porrusalda.
These rhythms, taken as basic perception structures, organize musical time. Within the discourse there are also zones of rhythmic instability that are generated due to displacement of accents, changes in articulation …
The melodic structure of the work is based on small original perception units, which organize the musical space in the txistu register, going from the lowest to the highest tessitura, and which, in turn, contrast with motifs of the melody “Nun zirade” from Basque folklore.
