Commentary
The starting point of this work is sound, understood from two points of view:
On the one hand, sound as a timbre that evolves in sound time and space.
One of the goals is to get various timbres created by the different instrumental groups of the sextet, emphasized by the use of different dynamics, articulations and ways of playing.
These timbres evolve in sound space, within a “plastic movement” of time, where they often move unstably, speeding up and slowing down “ad libitum”.
On the other hand, sound as a generator of colours and resonances.
Different sound planes are created for perception, so that around a main voice, there are voices in secondary planes and colours as resonant sound backgrounds.
The height of the work is based on an original four-note melody, inspired by the melodies of the modal world.
This melody, although it never appears as it is, serves to organize the height of the entire work.
For this reason, the different “melodic cells”, although they are modified, they move in space and increase or decrease in time, are always related to each other and serve as a guide to the auditor in the evolution of musical discourse.
