Commentary
This work was composed taking as a source of inspiration dance rhythms and motifs from the traditional melody “Nun Zirade” of Basque folklore.
These “melodic-rhythmic” motifs alternate with others that move in an unstable time, emphasized by the different dynamics and articulations.
It is the search for a sound universe enriched by the expressive possibilities of the baritone saxophone and its interpreter.
“Nun Zirade?” means “Where are you?” in Euskara, the Basque language.
The composer has imagined the search and desire for an encounter, which causes doubts, restlessness, anguish, agitation, excitement, hope, joy… All these states of mind are intended to be reflected in the score.
