Commentary
This work for marimba solo is the result of the confrontation of very marked rhythms, inspired by Basque folk dances, with other rhythmic forms that speed up or slow down “ad libitum”.
This process of rhythmic confrontation is also applied to the low / high space, to the dynamics, (static dynamics in front of large crescendos and diminuendos) and to the heights, (fixed notes in front of others in movement).
Through a current and free musical language, the auditor will be able to perceive two different sound universes, sometimes independent, sometimes related, sometimes merged or confused… derived from Basque folklore and oral tradition.
